The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) is pleased to announce that the Congress has approved of a modification of the WFDF Bylaws establishing a full voting right for the Athlete`s Commission chair on its Board of Directors.

The WFDF Congress unanimously approved of the proposed change allocating full voting powers to the Athlete’s Commission chair within the Board.

“We are pleased that the WFDF Congress adopted this change of the WFDF Bylaws to have an advocate for the athletes’ perspective in the decision-making process of the Board of Directors,” commented WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch. “While we have always tried to maintain a player focus in our governance, and have formally sought out the athletes’ views through event participant surveys and questionnaires, we now have their elected representative with a full voice in the Board.”

“Having amended our constitution in that respect fills the very last gap in our governance modifications required under the recognition procedure of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), which hopefully will conclude with the permanent recognition granted by the upcoming IOC Session in early August in Kuala Lumpur.”

Athletes’ Commission and Board member Ryan Purcell stated "Since being elected to the first WFDF Athletes’ Commission in 2012, it has been a privilege and honor to represent players from all over the globe and serve as a non-voting member of the Board. I am excited to continue this work in the future – now with full voting rights – and to keep the perspectives of all disc sport athletes front and center as WFDF continues to grow and develop."

The amendment of the WFDF Bylaws will come into force with immediate effect.
