Also announces new Approved Disc Policy to go into effect in 2019

The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) is pleased to announce that it has opened a closed tender process for establishing a multi‐year WFDF Official Disc Supplier and Sponsorship for the period from January 2019 through December 2020. It has also established a new Approved Disc Policy which will go into effect beginning in January 2019, which can be found here.

This request for proposal is by invitation only and WFDF has invited the six companies that currently manufacture approved championship-level 175 gram Ultimate discs to be involved in the tender process. The selected company will receive the exclusive rights to produce “Official WFDF Ultimate Discs” for sale through merchandise channels and will be the supplier of the “Official Game Discs” during all WFDF Ultimate Championship events during this period, unless otherwise agreed. It will also include sponsorship of the WFDF World Team Disc Golf and Freestyle Championships.

Aria, Daredevil, Discraft, Eurodisc, X-COM, and Yikun currently have twelve championship-level disc molds approved that provide choices for Ultimate players worldwide while ensuring there are consistent standards globally in the production of high-quality disc sports equipment. The approval process is carried out by the USA Ultimate Disc Standards Working Group and WFDF relies on their procedures for the certification of Ultimate Championship-level discs.

The final proposals are to be submitted to WFDF no later than Friday 26th October, 2018. It is anticipated that a final decision on the selected company will be reached during the month of November 2018 and communicated no later than the end of November based on a review and selection process by the WFDF Executive Committee with a final approval upon their recommendation by the WFDF Board of Directors.
