WFDF Board Elections and Call for Candidates

WFDF Board of Director elections for the 2008-2009 period are coming up shortly. Details of the voting period dates and Nominating Committee will be posted shortly   All available roles are for two year terms beginning January 1, 2008. The six positions that are up for election include:
Treasurer, board member
Individual Events Chair, board member
4 at-large board seats

All interested candidates are asked to submit the following information to Anne-Marie Carey by November 30, 2007.
  • Name
    Address
    Email Address
  • Nomination by a current WFDF Member in good standing
  • Desired Position (Treasurer, Individual Events Chair, At-Large Board Member)
  • Candidate Statement: why you are interested in the position and why you are qualified (300 words maximum)
  • Recent resume (CV)
  • Digital Photo (approx. 200 x 300 pixels)

Candidates agree to:

  • Display active enthusiasm and commitment.
  • Serve a global community – all regions, all flying disc disciplines.
  • Read and refer to the Bylaws and other organizational documents. Make decisions on behalf of the WFDF mission.
  • Have regular access to e-mail and the internet. Read e-mail at least once a week. Expected weekly e-mail volume is approximately 1-3 hours and could vary depending on time of year. E-mail & votes/polls response 1 week (7 days).
  • Communicate WFDF business in fluent English.
  • Keep board communication confidential. Get author approval to forward.
  • Inform the Working (Executive) Committee (ExCom) of planned absences including holidays/vacations as soon as known.
  • Be available for scheduled conference calls (about 4 per year), which could be at unusual times due to Directors living in different time zones.
  • Learn and follow WFDF policies. Work toward creation, update, and approval of policies for good governance where needed. Be prepared to follow a Conflict of Interest (COI) policy, which may require reasonable disclosures like financial dealings with other organizations.
  • Not to engage in criminal behavior (organizational/corporate). Traffic tickets, for example, would not be a WFDF concern unless driving a WFDF vehicle, which we do not have. Properly identify and report relevant criminal behavior of any WFDF person or WFDF member. We have not had an issue here, but seen a prominent example in another international sport federation (IF).
  • Resign if consistently unable or unwilling to meet minimum Board requirements.
  • Finally, remember the reasons you first started to play flying disc sports. Keep these alive in your decision-making, among the board, and in your interactions with WFDF members and the world.
