WADA Publishes the Annex to the International Standard on Protection of Privacy and Personal Information

In Anti-Doping, Anti-Doping, Anti-Doping News by WFDF

During its meeting of May 14, 2011, the WADA Executive Committee approved the Annex to the International Standard on the Protection of Privacy and Personal Information. This document identifies the maximum retention time of data collected within the anti-doping framework. For the sake of clarity, we wish to highlight the following to our stakeholders:

  • This document now forms an integral part of the International Standard on the Protection of Privacy and Personal Information and is therefore mandatory;
  • As indicated in the document, the deletion of data will take place on a quarterly basis, and not on a daily basis;
  • For those categories of data which are marked to be kept indefinitely, there is no maximum retention time indicated and stakeholders are free to decide how long they want to store such data, provided of course that they respect any national law requirements.

This Annex is posted on our Web site and its strict application will be part of our monitoring program as of 2012. Click here to access the document.
