The World Flying Disc Federation today released the updated World Ultimate Rankings. These rankings are based on the finishing positions of teams at the most recent major World Ultimate Events – World Ultimate Club Championships (2014), World Junior Ultimate Championships (2016), World Under 24 Championships (2015), World Championship of Beach Ultimate/World Great Grandmasters Beach Ultimate Championships (2017) and World Ultimate and Guts Championships (2016).
All playing divisions at each event are used to calculate these standings.
This ranking has been updated with the recent the finishing position of teams from both the 2017 World Championship of Beach Ultimate and the 2017 World Great Grandmasters Beach Ultimate Championships, which have just completed in Royan, France and Lisbon, Portugal respectively.
The USA held down the top spot after a strong showing at both Beach events, while Canada maintained its 2nd place position. Great Britain remained 3rd, while Germany and Australia both jumped up 1 spot to 4th and 5th respectively, moving past Japan, which dropped to 6th. France leaped over Colombia to claim 7th, while Switzerland moved ahead of New Zealand for 9th.
Spain had a major move up in the standings as they gained 9 places to 11th after good results in all divisions at WCBU 2017. Russia’s gold from the Women’s division helped move that country up 2 places to 14th. The Ukraine had the biggest positive move, gaining 10 places to land in 33rd, the Dominican Republic moved up 5 places to 36th.
The next World Rankings update will come out in January 2018 following the 2018 World Under-24 Championships to be held in Perth, Australia.
