To all participants in the 2011 AOUC:

On behalf of the World Flying Disc Federation, I would like to welcome all athletes, coaches, staff, supporters, and spectators to Kaohsiung, Chinese Taipei for the 2011 Asian-Oceanic Ultimate Championships.  We are confident that this will be an exciting event for all.

We thank Tournament Director Michael Hu and the Chinese Taipei Flying Disc Association (CTFDA) for all their work in hosting this important event.  It is a goal of WFDF to strengthen the Continental Ultimate Championship tournaments to complement our World Championships and so it is exciting to see our Asian event gathering participation and prestige.

We are pleased that the showcase venue for the Championship finals will represent a return to the Kaohsiung World Games Stadium for Ultimate.  The Stadium was the main venue for the World Games in 2009, where Ultimate was the most popular competition attracting some 50,000 spectators.

As you know, WFDF is introducing its new anti-doping program at the AOUC.  This is an important next step in our pursuit of International Olympic Committee recognition.  We appreciate your cooperation and ask that you be sure to peruse the educational materials that will be available.

We also wish to acknowledge the formation of the Asian Flying Disc Federation, the inaugural meeting of which is being held just prior to the AOUC.  This organization should assist disc players in the region to better coordinate play related matters and to promote growth throughout the region.

Our new Executive Director, Volker Bernardi, will be in attendance representing WFDF at the event.  Please feel free to introduce yourself and give him any constructive input you would like.  We are always trying to make our events even better.

We wish all teams much success and hope all have an enjoyable tournament!

Very truly yours,

Robert “Nob” Rauch
President
