WUGC 2012: Day 3 – hot temperatures as some favorites are emerging

In Featured Events, WUGC 2012 News by WFDF

altThe weather gods bless the WFDF 2012 World Ultimate and Guts Championships – sometimes a little bit too much – again day 3 of the event saw extreme hot temperatures and quite a few players seemed to struggle with hydration. Pool play is in full swing now and some favorites are emerging. Great Britain seems to have a very good open team this year and nearly upset Japan with a big run from behind to force the game to time cap and draw within one point at 13-12. Japan, however, rose to the task and after losing the previous 4 points – took 3 of the last 4 to win 16-13.

The Women’s division all went comfortably to form today, with every game making it to 17 points. In the open masters, the best game seen was the Australia vs Great Britain game – it was an epic game with swinging momentum throughout. Great Britain took half 9-6 but Australia came out firing and scored 7 seven of the first 9 points after half. That took them to time cap and a couple of traded points later, Australia found themselves the victors 16-14.

Day 4 sees the first Womens masters and Guts games of the tournament.
