WFDF 2013 Asia-Oceanic Ultimate Club Championships (AOUCC2013) began on Friday August 9 at The Grandstand in Singapore (the former Bukit Timah Race Course) and will run through Sunday August 11. The second edition of this prestigious regional club championship features 27 Mixed Division and 4 Open Division club teams.
Clubs are participating from Australia, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam.
At the Opening Ceremony, Mr. TOH Boon Yi, Singapore Sports Council welcomed the athletes and spectators, and Prof. Fumio "Moro" Morooka, WFDF Board member and Asia Flying Disc Federation (AFDF) President reported on the recent Recognition by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and proposed the national members in the region should aspire to become an Asian Games medal sport. Mr. Michael Hu (WFDF Board Member), Mr. Enrique Lee (UPA-Singapore President) and Mr. Bob Mittelsdorf (a US expat living in Singapore and one of the early creators of the game of Ultimate) also attended as featured guests.
The Asia Flying Disc Federation (AFDF) Congress will be held at 7:00pm on Saturday, August 10 and the Closing Ceremony will be held on Sunday, August 11 immediately after the Championship game.
