Will be held together with the EUF 2022 European Youth Ultimate Championships in Wrocław, Poland this August

The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) announces that it now plans to host its 2022 World Junior Ultimate Championships (WJUC) in conjunction with the 2022 European Youth Ultimate Championships (EYUC) being run under the auspices of the European Ultimate Federation (EUF). The Joint Junior Ultimate Championship (JJUC) will be staged from Saturday the 6th to Saturday the 13th of August 2022 at the Pola Marsowe Fields in Wrocław, Poland.

The 2022 JJUC will host the world’s best national teams for junior under-20 players competing in the WJUC and Europe’s youth national teams competing at the under-17 mixed, open and women’s titles in the EYUC. Both EYUC and WJUC will be stand alone events crowning champions in two seperate event titles. The JJUC Local Organizing Committee (LOC) is Duch Gry, headed up by Michal Dul and Dariusz Urbanik, who have hosted a number of large events with great success including EYUC 2011 and 2019, EUCF 2015 and 2018, WJUC 2016 and the IWGA World Games 2017.

“We are thrilled to be working with an experienced Tournament Organizer and partnering with the European Ultimate Federation for JJUC 2022. WJUC will be the first WFDF junior championship since 2018 due to the pandemic,” stated WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch. “Our juniors athletes are excited to get back out on the playing field and engage in international competition. The pedigree of events held at the venue previously will be a fitting stage for that return. The event was originally planned to be hosted in the Dominican Republic and we had to move very quickly to find a new venue and host after it was obvious that the event was untenable due to continuing pandemic issues in the region.”

It is expected that the event will attract over 40 youth teams in the six (6) divisions offered for National Federations to pre-register teams. Age and gender categories for Mixed, Open and Women, will be offered in both Under-20 and Under-17.

LOC Tournament Director Michal Dul commented “To host one championships is fantastic, to host two is amazing! We are absolutely delighted to have the elite juniors from around the world and the top youth Ultimate athletes of Europe come to Wrocław to be hosted at the 2022 Joint Junior Ultimate Championships. The event will be a tremendous spectacle of the next generation of Ultimate athletes and we at the LOC and the city are certainly looking forward to their arrival.”

WFDF has today issued the event bulletin and official invitation for NF’s to pre-register for all bids where they want to send teams to WJUC. Registration closes on Sunday 13th February 2022. Teams interested in participating should reach out directly to their member National Federation.
