WFDF seeks interest from juniors (Under 18) to participate in the UTS World Virtual Youth Festival 2022
The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) is proud to announce that we have been invited to participate in the United Through Sports (UTS) World Virtual Youth Festival (WVYF) 2022. This event is a unique opportunity for the Flying Disc youth athletes to be involved in a United through Sport movement that promotes health and safety through competition of an online festival. WFDF is seeking interest from juniors (Under 18) who wish to participate. The deadline for registration with WFDF is the 23rd of October.
The Festival will be hosted on a digital platform, and youth participants will need a video recording device (such as a mobile phone/camera) and access to the internet to participate during the finals on the 14-20 November 2022. Participants will need to upload their videos to participate. The festival will be hosted from Bangkok, Thailand.
The festival is officially under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee, International Paralympic Committee , Special Olympics International, AIMS, SportAccord and GAISF.
“WFDF is excited to invite young athletes from our Flying Disc Community to participate in this virtual festival of sporting youth from around the globe,” stated WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch. “As we come through the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, this festival continues to provide a meaningful platform for everyone to affirm that ‘We Stand United Through Sports.’ The UTS World Virtual Youth Festival provides an opportunity for youth from all over the world to engage in friendly sport for all.”
UTS is hosting five competition categories (Max Fit, Aero Fit, Talent, Inclusive Challenge and Unified Fitness Challenge) and we invite interested young athletes to enter either Max Fit, Aero Fit, or Talent through WFDF. For further information please visit the UTS website: unitedthroughsports.com.
Maxfit competition focuses on Strength, Power and Stamina using standardized exercises. There are 4 stages: Preliminary, Quarterfinal, Semi-final and Final, and each has 3 rounds. Contestants will be scored by judges on the number of repetitions they complete, as well as their quality and control whilst performing the repetitions.
Aero Fit is a dynamic competition category that allows a team of 2 competitors to join their abilities and create a routine choreography of up to 3 minutes in length. Freestyle pairs works well here.
Talent allows any age-qualifying youth to join this competition and show their talents, again in a video of up to 3 minutes in length.
All participants of the festival are able to receive a digital certificate Medals will be awarded per age category and gender combination. The UTS World Virtual Youth Festival is open to young people across different age groups: U10, U12, U14, U16, U18. Participants in each division must be under the title age calculated as the age they are on the 14th of November 2022 (e.g. one must be age 13 or younger to compete in the U14).
