Invitation for Nominations to WFDF Athletes’ Commission

WFDF and the Athletes’ Commission are inviting nominations for the election of three regular members and one additional member to fill a currently vacant position. The Commission is currently made up of nine athletes from around the world, comprised of six elected positions with three additional members nominated by the WFDF Board of Directors. These openings are for three elected members to represent Ultimate for the term of 2024 to 2028, with the fourth highest vote-getter finishing out the remaining term of a vacated seat on the Commission from 2024-2026.

The deadline to submit nominations is Monday, 12 August 2024. Interested athletes who meet the following requirements are welcome to nominate themselves.

Nomination Requirements:

  • Athlete aged 18 years of age or older
  • Athlete participated in any WFDF World Ultimate Championship in the past eight years (2016-2024)
  • Submission of the Nomination Form by the required deadline
  • Letter from the athlete’s National Federation endorsing their nomination, submitted by the required deadline
  • No current or past Anti-Doping Rules Violation(s) or criminal conviction(s)

Following verification of the submitted nominations, an election will be held during the WFDF 2024 World Ultimate Championships

WFDF plans to expand the number of members on the Commission to include athletes representing Disc Golf and other Flying Disc disciplines. Open nominations and elections will be held later this year to fill these additional positions.

About the Athletes’ Commission

The WFDF Athletes’ Commission was established in 2012 to create an avenue for athlete advice, feedback, and assistance on matters of relevance to all Flying Disc Disciplines and athletes. Some of the roles and responsibilities of the WFDF Athletes’ Commission are to:

  • Promote high standards of sportspersonship and ethical performance
  • Provide reports and recommendations to the board on issues of relevance to athletes
  • Examine the WFDF business plan and give feedback to the Board on areas that require input from athletes
  • Bring the athletes’ point of view to the Medical and Anti-Doping Committee
  • Represent athletes competing at WFDF Championships to promote feedback on the athletes’ experiences

“The Athletes’ Commission plays an important role within the WFDF governance structure to keep the organization in touch with the opinions of our players,” stated WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch. “The chair of the Commission, self-selected by the Commission members, serves on the Board. We encourage all qualified athletes to consider giving back to our global organization, and suggest you reach out to Caroline Tisson, our current Chair, with any questions.”
