Athletes Commission Ultimate Election Results

The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) is pleased to announce the results of the 2024 WFDF Athletes’ Commission elections for Ultimate. The elections were held between 31 August and 7 September during the WFDF 2024 World Ultimate Championships in Gold Coast, Australia.

A total of four athletes were elected by their peers out of seven candidates, three positions for a four-year term and one for a two-year term.

The following athletes were elected to four-year terms:

  • Irene Scazzieri (ITA)
  • Maria Fernanda Galindo Palencia (COL)
  • Claire Chastain (USA)

And for a two-year term:

  • Allan Poghisyo Lemtudo (KEN)

“I am very happy for these results because I can finally give back to the community that, over the years, has given me so much,” shared Scazzieri. “I hope to be able to reach all the athletes and represent their ideas, and I look forward to working with all the other members in the Commission and in WFDF.”

“Being elected to the Athletes’ Commission means having the privilege to represent the athletes’ voice in key decisions that affect the sport,” said Fernanda Galindo Palencia. “It’s a chance to actively contribute to the growth of Ultimate while prioritizing fairness and the well-being of athletes. This role also brings the opportunity of working alongside a global network of leaders and players to help create a stronger and more inclusive future for the sport.”

“It means a lot to me to be elected by international Ultimate players to this post,” commented Chastain. “I want to provide opportunities for international athletes to engage in conversation together, particularly at international events, to have a more clear access point for international athletes to address the Athletes’ Commission, and to be a champion for all players at this level.“

“Being elected to the Athletes’ Commission is an exceptional opportunity to represent my fellow athletes, advocating for initiatives that enhance their experience and well-being within the Flying Disc community,” stated Poghisyo Lemtudo.

“Congratulations to the four elected, who will now have the opportunity to make sure athletes’ views are considered in the organization’s decision making process,” said WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch. “We would like to thank all those who put their candidacy forward, as well as the athletes who participated in the voting process. Along with participation in events, taking the time to engage with WFDF governance and participate in elections like these are among the best ways individuals can contribute directly to the future of Flying Disc sports.”

Elections for additional positions on the Athletes’ Commission, representing Disc Golf and other disciplines, are open for nominations.
