The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) has partnered with Flik to deliver online access to Ultimate coaching resources to individuals from around the world who are interested in becoming coaches for the sport. Coaching materials provided through the partnership are geared toward coaches who may have only a rudimentary or midlevel knowledge of the sport, with a focus on playing essentials, offensive and defensive strategies, conditioning, practice organization, and incorporation of the Spirit of the Game. In coordination with our National Federations, 150 coaches across 67 countries have been identified to participate.
Flik has gathered together some of the world’s top players and coaches to teach individuals how to coach and train for Ultimate like the very best. Training modules feature coaching and tips from over 50 world-class athletes and coaches, including Cat Phillips (AUS), Beau Kittredge (USA), Fiona Mernaugh (IRL), and Moe Sameshima (JPN).
Flik founder Sion “Brummie” Scone represented Great Britain as a player from 2007 to 2016, medaling in the Open, Masters, and Beach Mixed divisions. He also played on the first ever British World Games team in 2009. Brummie has been coaching since 2003 at all levels including university, club, and national teams, coaching the British National Open Team to their first ever medal in 2012.
“Coaches’ training continues to be one of the resources most requested by WFDF’s developing National Federations,” commented WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch. “We are glad to have Flik as the WFDF Official Coaching Resource Partner and have the ability to make these resources available to selected coaches from the community.”
