WFDF Puts the Spotlight on Beach Ultimate with 4v4 Showcase Game

The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) in partnership with the Beach Ultimate Lovers Association (BULA) is pleased to announce a special showcase game which will be held immediately following the conclusion of the BULA World Beach Ultimate Club Championships on 19 October.

The showcase game, which will take place in the Ulti.tv Arena on the sands of the beautiful Praia da Rocha beach in Portimão, Portugal, will feature a unique 4v4 format. Mixed teams of eight players from the French and Spanish National Federations will face off in a friendly rematch of last year’s Mixed finals game at the WFDF 2023 World Beach Ultimate Championships (WBUC). At that event, which followed the typical 5v5 Beach Ultimate format, France had an exciting upset win over the USA to make it into the finals against Spain. They then took home the gold, winning the match 12-9.

This exciting match will be livestreamed on WFDF’s YouTube channel beginning at 5 p.m. local time (Noon Eastern). Live scoring for the match will also be available at results.wfdf.sport. For those in the area, in person attendance is encouraged. The event is free to the public, and a number of WFDF representatives and guests will be on site. During the event, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in giveaways from WFDF sponsors, including Layout Gloves.

“We are thrilled to be able to showcase the excitement and athleticism inherent in Beach Ultimate through this showcase game,” said WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch. “We are grateful for the opportunity to once again partner with BULA to promote Beach Ultimate internationally. I would like to thank the National Federations from France and Spain and the participating athletes for their dedication to the sport and willingness to assist in promoting it on the world stage through this friendly 4v4 match.”

“On behalf of the WFDF Beach Ultimate Committee, we are excited that Beach Ultimate will be showcased and filmed for prominent exposure to the Olympic Movement” shared Shiellah Quintos, Chair of the WFDF Beach Ultimate Committee. “Beach Ultimate continues to experience explosive growth around the world. We look forward to highlighting the sport through this friendly rematch between France and Spain.”
