WFDF recently attended the XXVII Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) General Assembly, held from 29 October to 1 November 2024 in Cascais, Portugal. WFDF was invited to the General Assembly as an Observer and also secured a booth at the Assembly to promote Flying Disc sports to the 206 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) and Continental Olympic Sports Organizations in attendance. Over the course of three days, WFDF met with 128 NOCs and other regional Olympic organizations, introducing Flying Disc sports to many NOC leaders and discussing opportunities for cooperation.

WFDF made significant progress in advancing discussions for NOC recognition of our country members and explored participation in organizational activities with PanAm Sports, ANOCA, EOC, OCA, ONOC, ODESUR, Centro Caribe, and CANOC. To commemorate the occasion, WFDF distributed nearly 400 customized WFDF-ANOC-General Assembly branded discs, which proved popular among delegates and served as conversation starters around Flying Disc’s unique appeal and potential for Olympic inclusion.

“When the various delegates came over to our booth, looked at our videos and talked to us, most were quite interested in what Flying Disc sports might have to offer in their countries, with great interest from the African, Central American, Caribbean, Oceanic, and Asian NOCs,” stated WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch. “It was fun to look out at the delegates walking around with the discs we gave out as they circulated around the floor. We had an incredibly productive three days, and we have a lot of work to do in supporting the growth and development of all disc sports across the globe.”

WFDF’s participation in the ANOC meeting builds on the momentum from its attendance at the LXII Panam Sports General Assembly, held in Asuncion on 2-3 October, reaffirming WFDF’s commitment to expanding Flying Disc’s visibility and integration within the global sports community.

The WFDF delegation was composed of:

Robert “Nob” Rauch, WFDF President
Volker Bernardi, WFDF Secretary General
Caroline Tisson, WFDF Athletes’ Commission Chair and Board Member
Marco Tomasini, WFDF Director of NOC Relations
