WFDF Celebrates Impact of TAFISA’s Girls Positive and Safe Coaching Pathway: Advancing Gender Equity in the Sport

The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) announces the impact of the delivery of the Girls Positive and Safe Coaching Pathway project, a groundbreaking initiative in global sports supported and funded by The Association For International Sport for All (TAFISA). This collaboration has surpassed initial targets and fostered positive, sustainable changes across Flying Disc communities worldwide.

The project empowered over 180 participants, with nearly half being women. The project’s unique approach not only educated participants about gender equity and coaching girls and women, but also encouraged them to become coaches. This resulted in expanded reach, impacting an estimated 5,580 players benefiting from the project.

Beyond the number of participants, the project’s impact was tangible in the lives and communities it affected. As shown by feedback gathered through impact questionnaires, participants noted growth in their sports-related skills and an increase in gender equity within their local communities. This initiative highlighted the demand and enthusiasm for targeted coaching pathways across regions, reinforcing the importance of such programs in creating supportive environments for women and girls in sports.

Moving forward, WFDF is committed to sustaining and expanding the Girls Positive and Safe Coaching Pathway within its existing educational and capacity-building frameworks, such as continuing to deliver courses and enabling coaches and participants to continue exchange knowledge, experiences, and solutions, strengthening their connections and commitment to advancing gender equity in Flying Disc sports.

“This project aligns closely with WFDF’s long-term strategies and goals, reinforcing our focus on visible representation, leadership opportunities for women, and partnerships with like-minded organizations.” noted WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch. “We are optimistic that the ripple effects of this initiative will continue to influence future programs, partnerships, and progress toward inclusivity and equality in sports worldwide.”
