Disc Golfer Kristin Lätt of Estonia Nominated for The World Games Athlete of the Year

Kristin Lätt (née Tattar), one of the most dominant forces in Flying Disc sports, has been nominated by the World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) for The World Games Athlete of the Year 2024. This prestigious nomination recognizes her outstanding achievements in Disc Golf, where she has not only redefined the game but continues to inspire athletes across the world. This year, Disc Golf will be on the Programme of The World Games for the first time since 2001 in Chengdu, China, in August 2025, marking a significant milestone for the sport. We encourage the flying disc community to rally behind Kristin and actively participate in The World Games voting process, found here.

In 2024, Kristin claimed victory in seven Disc Golf Pro Tour events, including defending her European Open title, and she remains the highest-rated female disc golfer worldwide. This 2024 performance follows an extraordinary 2023 season for the Estonian, where she became the first woman to achieve the Grand Slam by winning all four major tournaments in a single season. She secured her second World Championship title, her first European Championship title, and was awarded the Elaine King Player of the Year award, winning 12 high-level tournaments.

“Kristin’s outstanding achievements have set a new standard for achievement in Flying Disc sports,” said WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch. “Her relentless pursuit of excellence is not only a testament to her skill but also to the growth and potential of Flying Disc sports on the world stage. We are excited to have Disc Golf back on the Programme of The World Games and are looking forward to showcasing our best disc golfers to the world in Chengdu this August.”

Craig Sheather, WFDF Disc Golf Committee Chair, added  “Kristin Lätt exemplifies what it means to be a champion in every sense of the word. Her achievements on the course and her role in growing the sport are crucial to the future of Disc Golf. This nomination is a reflection of her impact, not only as a player but also as a leader in our sport.”
