WFDF 2026 World Ultimate Club Championships to be hosted in Limerick, Ireland

The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) Board of Directors and Ultimate Committee are pleased to announce that the WFDF 2026 World Ultimate Club Championships (WUCC) will be staged in Limerick, Ireland from Saturday 15th to Saturday 22nd August, 2026. The event will be held at the University of Limerick. WUCC is WFDF’s premier Club Championship event for the flying disc discipline of Ultimate. The event is held every four years and is composed of club teams who are endorsed by their National Federations.

The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) is Siege Events Limited, headed up by Barry Walsh and Liam Grant, who have hosted the Siege of Limerick, Ireland’s largest Ultimate Tournament, and WFDF’s 2022 World Masters Club Championships with great success.

“The WUCC is an incredible event where we showcase the premier club teams from around the world,” stated WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch.  “Our last WUCC edition in Cincinnati, USA in 2022 attracted a record 128 teams and nearly 3,300 athletes. WUCC 2026 will comprise Open, Women’s and Mixed teams and is expected to be popular with as many as 55-60 countries  sending teams from WFDF’s 113 member countries, making this event the largest gathering of countries any WFDF event has experienced. Barry and Liam are both experienced organizers and they are expected to again put on an incredible event that showcases the competitiveness, spirit, and community that makes our sport so special.”

LOC Tournament Director and Siege Events’ lead Barry Walsh commented “We are yet again delighted to be hosting one of WFDF’s major events in LImerick. The facilities here at the University of Limerick are world class. The modern campus will give the event a unique after game atmosphere and will allow for a stress-free experience. Our highly skilled and experienced organizing committee and the city stands fully behind us to make this a memorable tournament.”

University of Limerick Sports Business Development Manager David Ward said, “ We are thrilled to welcome the WFDF and Ultimate community back to the University of Limerick once again. UL, Limerick City and the wider Shannon Region will embrace the WUCC with open arms. I have no doubt the experience of Siege Events, Barry, Liam and their team will ensure the delivery of a truly exceptional event”

Bids will be allocated per the WFDF Rules of Ultimate – Appendix Section E5. National Federations will receive one (1) bid in each playing division in which the National Federation participated at the WUC in 2024 on the Gold Coast followed by bids allocated to the top three (3) finishing countries at the last WUCC. Host Country Ireland will be allocated a bid in each division if not already allocated. For any country who does not obtain a bid from the first two allocations, WFDF Ultimate Committee will look at results from the most recent continental Ultimate Championship results. Any nation not yet receiving bids will then be granted a bid in one division. The bid allocation is complex, so the first step of having National Federations pre-register for a maximum number of bids they would accept in each division is essential to a successful allocation. All NF’s will be given pre-registration instructions as the bulletin is released in March. Pre-registration will close around the 15th June 2025 so that the bid allocation can take place.

The official event bulletin with instructions on how member National Federations can apply for bids will be shared after the Technical Site visit taking place between all key stakeholders in early March. Club teams interested in participating should reach out directly to your member National Federation.
