WFDF Athlete Commission Chair Caroline Tisson Brings Flying Disc into the Olympic Conversation at International Athletes’ Forum

Caroline Tisson, Chair of the WFDF Athlete Commission, joined over 400 athlete representatives this week at the IOC’s International Athletes’ Forum in Lausanne. Hosted by the IOC Athletes’ Commission every two years, the IAF brings together athlete reps from all continents to exchange ideas and find solutions through panel discussions, Q&A sessions, and interactive workshops.
Invited as one of the Athlete Commission Chairs from international federations, Tisson brought Flying Disc’s perspective to discussions that will influence the Olympic Movement’s next roadmap. Throughout the forum, she took part in a Q&A with IOC President Thomas Bach, joined a fireside chat with IOC President-elect Kirsty Coventry, both captured holding a “WFDF spirit of the game’ disc, and engaged in workshops on social media and sustainability, where she explored the wide range of opportunities the Olympic Movement has to offer.
“It was incredible to learn how many IOC programmes WFDF already qualifies for, especially in career transition, mental health, education, and athlete rights,” said Caroline Tisson. “This forum gives us new impulses and partnerships to support our community. WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch added, “Caroline’s participation at the IAF underscores Flying Disc’s growing integration into the broader Olympic community. Her engagement here paves the way for valuable programs and resources that will benefit our athletes worldwide.”
Tisson also noted that the forum’s collaborative environment, connecting athlete commissions from national Olympic committees, continental associations, and international federations, provided fertile ground for sharing best practices and exploring new support structures.
