Flying Disc Spotlight Turns to Kamisu with Asia Oceanic Ultimate Championships and First-Ever World Guts Club Championships

Kamisu City, Japan — The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) is proud to announce the upcoming WFDF 2025 Asia Oceanic Ultimate Championships (AOUC) and the inaugural WFDF 2025 World Guts Club Championships (WGCC) — set to take place in Kamisu City, Ibaraki, Japan, with over 1,200 participants including athletes and coaches ready to take part in five spirited days of international play.

Organized in close partnership with the Japan Flying Disc Association (JFDA), a founding and long-standing member of WFDF, the twin tournaments will welcome players, coaches, and fans from across the Asia Oceania region and beyond. With 52 teams from 12 Asian-Oceanic countries in Ultimate, and 8 Guts clubs from Japan and the USA, this event promises to be one of the largest gatherings of elite-level Flying Disc athletes in the region to date.

“This marks the first time Kamisu has hosted a WFDF event,” said WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch. “With its proximity to Narita International Airport, extensive sports infrastructure, and strong support for sport tourism, Kamisu offers the ideal environment for world-class competition and international exchange. We’re thrilled to see the sport’s top talents come together here — and to debut the very first World Guts Club Championships.”

The Ultimate divisions will feature Open, Women’s, Mixed, and Master Mixed categories, while the Guts competition will showcase elite club teams facing off in the Open division — building on the legacy of a discipline long dominated by passionate play and lightning-fast reflexes.

Haruyoshi Saito, President, Japan Flying Disc Association (JFDA), commented that “It is a great honor for us to welcome the Flying Disc community to Kamisu City. This international event highlights the spirit of sportsmanship and connection that lies at the heart of Flying Disc, and we are proud to host such a meaningful gathering on home soil. We look forward to seeing the passion of the players and the strength of the community shine throughout the week.”

This event would not be possible without the dedication of the Local Organizing Committee, led by Tournament Directors Amane Asai and Yuta Saito, and the full support of the JFDA, whose commitment to Flying Disc sports continues to elevate the region’s visibility on the world stage.
