The WFDF 2025 All-Africa Ultimate Championship is being held 9-12 October 2025 at the Kampala International School (KISU) Field in Kampala, Uganda. This is the 10th anniversary of the first WFDF All-African Championships, which coincidentally were also held in Uganda.
Over 230 Athletes will be competing during the tournament across 13 teams, the biggest number of teams AAUC has ever held. There are mixed gender teams from seven countries: Congo, Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda.
“We are excited to be hosting another All-African Ultimate championship this weekend, as we continue to demonstrate our universality,” stated WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch. “This is the ‘Year of Africa’ for WFDF and we are excited to celebrate the growth and development of Flying Disc activity across the continent. On behalf of WFDF, I want to thank tournament director Dr. Jane Gakuru and her staff and volunteers for hosting this successful event.”
Highlights for the “Year of Africa” for WFDF, which itself is celebrating its 40th anniversary of founding in 1985, include:
- The 25th national member country on the continent is in the midst of being been approved, with the Congress approval of Botswana, Senegal, and Zimbabwe expected next week.
- A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Association of National Olympic committees of Africa (ANOCA) and WFDF at the ANOCA General Assembly in Algiers, Algeria in March 2025.
- Four out of the current 19 board members are from Africa: Board Secretary and ExComm member Cathy Nakasi of Uganda, AAFDF President Ronny Ochoro of Kenya, GEDI Commission Chair Esther Omuseni of Kenya, and IOC Member and independent board member Filomena Fortes of Cabo Verde
- WFDF is currently supporting several national federations to achieve recognition by their National Olympic Committees.
