WFDF Announces Formation of the Oceania Flying Disc Federation (OFDF)

The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) is pleased to announce the formal establishment of the Oceania Flying Disc Federation (OFDF) as the new Continental Association representing Flying Disc member federations across Oceania. The formation of OFDF marks an important milestone in strengthening regional governance and development of Flying Disc sports in alignment with WFDF’s global structure.

At the OFDF Formation Meeting held on 8 October 2025, member representatives approved the appointment of the federation’s first Board:

  • OFDF President: Natalie Robinson (Australia)
  • OFDF Secretary: Iain Stewart (New Zealand)
  • OFDF Treasurer: Nicolas Toft (Guam)
  • OFDF Director-at-Large: Christopher Ende (Australia)
  • OFDF Director-at-Large: Mark Stevenson (New Zealand)

“The formation of OFDF represents a significant step of Flying Disc development in Oceania,” stated WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch. “By establishing a dedicated Continental Federation, we can better support our national member federations in Australia, Guam, and New Zealand and focus on developing flying disc activity in other countries in the region, while aligning more closely with the structures of the Olympic Movement and continental sports bodies. This transition reflects WFDF’s commitment to good governance, inclusivity, and sustainable development of our sport worldwide.”

The creation of OFDF follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between WFDF and the former Asia-Oceanic Flying Disc Federation (AOFDF) in July 2025, which outlined the transition into two separate Continental Associations—the Asian Flying Disc Federation (AFDF) and the Oceania Flying Disc Federation (OFDF). This restructuring supports WFDF’s objective to formalize governance structures and pursue recognition within each region’s respective sports organizations, including the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), Oceania National Olympic Committees (ONOC), and the Organisation of Sports Federations of Oceania (OSFO).

OFDF President Natalie Robinson emphasized the importance of this new organization, noting “We’re proud to take this next step in building Flying Disc across the continent in ways that reflect the diversity and spirit of Oceania. OFDF is about creating stronger links between our nations, learning from each other, and helping the sport thrive in new places. We’re starting small, but with an open invitation to every country in Oceania that wants to be part of this journey.”

The objectives of the organization are to:

  1. Serve as a confederation of national Flying Disc federation members as a Continental Association, as per Article VI of the WFDF Bylaws
  2. Support and coordinate with WFDF the promotion and development of Flying Disc of the member federations across the region of Oceania, as defined by the IOC (17 countries in the continent)
  3. Assist WFDF is developing new Flying Disc national federations across Oceania
  4. Coordinate with WFDF regarding to Olympic Movement activity in Oceania
  5. Organize and coordinate all events with the Asian Flying Disc Federation (AFDF), the continental association for Asia, and manage together with AFDF the joint Disc Sport Committees and Commissions.

Competitions and events in the region will continue to be jointly organized under the existing Asia–Oceania framework, ensuring ongoing cooperation and stability for athletes and member federations.

The creation of the Oceania Flying Disc Federation reinforces WFDF’s long-term vision to build a more connected and sustainable global Flying Disc community, supporting regional development, good governance, and broader participation across all continents.
