World Flying Disc Federation Publishes National Federation Handbook to Empower Members

The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) is proud to announce the publication of its National Federation Handbook, Version 1.4. This comprehensive resource is designed to support and empower the Federation’s 122 Member National Federations across the globe. The National Federation Handbook provides clear guidance and essential information and provides a simplified outline of the WFDF Bylaws, policies, and procedures, making it easier for NFs to manage their daily operations. It serves as a vital tool to strengthen NF governance, operations, and development efforts.

This Handbook is a key initiative aligned with WFDF’s Strategic Plan 2023 to 2028 and its objectives, addressing the goal of optimizing organizational effectiveness and efficiency by providing accessible, practical guidance. It can be found here.

Robert “Nob” Rauch, WFDF President, highlighted the resource’s importance. “The launch of this updated National Federation Handbook is a significant step toward a unified and robust global Flying Disc community,” he said. “The publication of this Handbook represents a step forward in WFDF’s commitment to fostering robust and well-supported National Federations. It will enable Members to better understand their roles and responsibilities, access crucial information, and implement effective strategies for sport development and good governance.”

The Handbook is structured into four main sections to provide a complete understanding of the relationship between an National Federation and International Federation:

  • Section 1: Obligations—Clearly defining what an NF needs to do to be in “Good Standing.”
  • Section 2: Rights and Benefits—Outlining the opportunities available to NFs, including Development Support, event participation, and support for achieving National Olympic and Paralympic Committee Recognition.
  • Section 3: WFDF Purpose and Structure—Reviewing the Federation’s mission, values, and the disciplines it governs.
  • Section 4: NF Structure and Good Governance—Providing best practices and guidelines for effective federation management, which helps NFs attract funding and sponsors and ensures optimal development of the sport in their country.

The WFDF National Federation Handbook is now available to all National Federations and is an essential tool for National Federation Board Members and Staff. WFDF encourages all National Federations to utilize this valuable resource to enhance their operations and contribute to the continued advancement of Flying Disc sports worldwide.
