The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) is sad to announce that long-time flying disc contributor Shiellah Quintos has passed away at age 59 following a serious illness.

Shiellah was a valued member of the global flying disc community and served WFDF with dedication, warmth, and commitment. Through her leadership in Beach Ultimate, she contributed to the continued growth, visibility, and organization of the discipline, helping support athletes, organizers, and national federations around the world.
Contributing to many parts of the flying disc community, Shiellah truly was a remarkable person. She served as the WFDF Beach Ultimate Chair since 2023 and as Ultimate Events Sub-Committee Chair and Ultimate Committee member since 2017. Shiellah worked as a WFDF Game Advisor/Trainer starting from WUCC 2014 and for BULA as Volunteer Coordinator at various events since 2015.

In 2011 Shiellah became a USAU Northeast Regional Observer Coordinator and in 2012 a USAU Certified Observer Trainer. She was also a USAU Certified Observer since 2007, USAU/UPA Club Championships Volunteer Coordinator (2003–2012), and UPA Northeast Mixed Regional Coordinator (2003–2008). She was the Executive Director of the Canadian Ultimate Players Association (2004–2006) and the Executive Director of the Association de Ultimate de Montréal (2002–2008). A resident of Montreal, Shiellah had been working as an Application Support Analyst for Intelerad Medical Systems when she wasn’t traveling for her frisbee duties.
Those who worked with Shiellah will remember her not only for her service, but also for the care, generosity, and steady spirit she brought to her role. Her commitment to flying disc and to the people within the community reflected the values that define our sport: respect, inclusion, responsibility, and Spirit of the Game.

“Shiellah gave generously of her time and energy to the entire flying disc community,” said WFDF President Nob Rauch. “Her loss will be felt deeply by all those who knew her. On behalf of WFDF, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Shiellah’s family, friends, colleagues, teammates, and all who were touched by her life and service.”
WFDF Vice President Brian Gisel stated “Shiellah had a giant impact on the flying disc community, locally in Quebec, nationally in Canada, and internationally in all parts of the globe. It is impossible to fully quantify the positive influence she has had on our sport over the past decades, and the number of people she inspired, supported and encouraged.”
WFDF joins the international flying disc community, together with her family and friends, in mourning Shiellah’s passing and in honoring her extraordinary contributions to our sport. Her legacy will live on through the people she inspired and the work she helped advance. May she rest in peace.
