The FPA & WFDF 2026 World Freestyle Flying Disc Championships are underway in Munich, Germany, bringing together 110 athletes from 13 countries for four days of world-class competition, creativity, and community. 

Hosted at Sportschule Oberhaching as part of the Munich Frisbee Festival, the championship showcases the highest level of Freestyle Flying Disc across four divisions: Open Pairs, Women’s Pairs, Mixed Pairs, and Open Coop. The event also continues WFDF’s Summer of Flying Disc, following the successful 2026 World Masters Ultimate Club Championships and 2026 World Junior Ultimate Championships, highlighting the diversity and global reach of Flying Disc sports.

“This is the first freestyle event co-hosted by the Freestyle Players Association and the World Flying Disc Federation,” stated WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch. “Freestyle is one of the most iconic but demanding disciplines within flying disc sports, and we are excited to showcase the top freestylers from around the globe. Hosting the event amid a frisbee festival harks back to the early days in the 1970s where all forms of frisbee activities were showcased, and we are confident that this is going to be a crowd-pleaser. We want to thank Tournament Director Daniel Weinbuch and FPA President Paul Kenny for all their hard work to make this happen.”

Freestyle Flying Disc is a unique blend of athleticism, creativity, precision and teamwork. Athletes perform choreographed routines to music, combining technically demanding disc manipulation, acrobatics, body movement and artistic expression into performances that are judged on technical difficulty, execution, artistic presentation and musicality.

At the World Championships, the competition floor becomes a stage where athletes push the boundaries of what is possible with a flying disc, while embracing the creativity, innovation and Spirit of the Game that define the discipline.

Competition begins today with the opening preliminary rounds, as athletes start their journey towards World Championship titles across the four divisions.

Attention will quickly turn to the championship weekend. On Saturday, 1 August, the Mixed Pairs and Open Coop semifinals will decide the finalists, while Sunday, 2 August, features all four World Championship finals—Open Pairs, Women’s Pairs, Mixed Pairs and Open Coop—before the 2026 World Champions are crowned during the Awards Ceremony.

Throughout the weekend, visitors will have the opportunity to discover and experience multiple Flying Disc disciplines through competitions, demonstrations and interactive activities.

The festival offers an opportunity for spectators of all ages to discover Flying Disc sports, meet elite athletes, and experience the creativity, athleticism and community that define the sport.

Beyond the competition, the championship provides an opportunity to share the creativity, athleticism and Spirit of the Game that define Freestyle while introducing new audiences to one of Flying Disc sport’s most unique disciplines.
