The WFDF 2026 World Junior Ultimate Championships (WJUC) have concluded after eight days of world-class competition in Logroño, Spain, with Canada (Open), USA (Mixed), and France (Women’s) crowned World Champions.

Across more than a week of competition, 47 national teams from 26 countries competed in three divisions, showcasing the highest level of junior Ultimate alongside the Spirit of the Game values that define the sport. The championship finished with three different nations claiming gold medals, highlighting the growing depth and competitiveness of international junior Ultimate.

Women’s Division: France Defends its World Title

France successfully defended the title won at the 2024 WJUC in Birmingham, producing its best performance of the tournament when it mattered most.

The final against Canada was tightly contested through the opening half, with both teams exchanging breaks. France pulled away after halftime, dominating the second half to earn a 14–10 victory and another World Championship. Japan claimed bronze, while Italy, unbeaten throughout pool play, narrowly missed the podium after finishing fourth.

Open Division: Canada Completes Historic Run

Canada capped an unbeaten tournament by defeating the United States in the Open final to claim the 2026 World Championship.

After handing the Americans their only defeat of the tournament during Power Pool play, Canada repeated the feat on finals day with a composed performance. Their offense remained flawless throughout the game, while two first-half defensive breaks proved decisive as Canada secured the title. Japan completed the podium by defeating New Zealand in the bronze medal game.

Mixed Division: USA Finishes Perfect

The Mixed final featured the tournament’s two remaining unbeaten teams, USA and Canada.

The Americans took control early with three first-half breaks before closing out a 15–11 victory to complete a flawless championship campaign. Canada earned silver, while Switzerland secured the bronze medal over France.

Spirit of the Game Champions

Alongside the World Championship titles, the tournament also celebrated the teams that best embodied Ultimate’s unique tradition of Spirit of the Game, recognising respect, fair play, communication and positive competition.
