Participants from across the Paralympic Movement gathered for a four-day event to foster learning, dialogue, and strategic alignment for sport for athletes with impairments.

Over 140 representatives from National Paralympic Committees and International Federations gathered in Bonn, Germany, for the International Paralympic Committee (IPC)’s Annual Classification Meeting, held from July 15 to 18, 2026.

Dillon Richardson, Director of Membership Services and Sport Development, represented the World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) at the meeting. A major focus for WFDF was advancing its classification system, ensuring integrity and fair competition for athletes with impairments.

“Attending the IPC Annual Classification Meeting was a great opportunity to connect and exchange with the wider community and to learn from global experts,” said Richardson. “We are working hard to ensure that athletes of all abilities have a fair and structured path to participate in our sport. Seeing everyone come together with a shared purpose reminds us how sport can truly change lives and positively impact communities.”

During the meeting, WFDF reflected on its recent progress in Para Sports. Over the past year, the federation successfully hosted the second edition of the World Wheelchair Ultimate Championships, where the discipline’s classification system was piloted, as well as advanced this system for Disc Golf and completed its Classification Code Compliance.

The collaborative sessions focused on athlete well-being, the future of technology, and classification development. WFDF will use these insights to drive its current priorities, which include refining its classification system, offering educational opportunities and creating more competition opportunities.

“By working closely with the IPC and global experts, WFDF is dedicated to creating pathways for athletes with impairments,” stated WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch. “With our adoption of technical rules for Ultimate and Disc Golf, WFDF looks forward to continuing collaboration with its member national federations to ensure Para Flying Disc Sport Disciplines are fit for purpose and continue to develop.”
