The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) is proud to announce the official launch of the Ultimate Rules Accreditation within the WFDF Academy, the federation’s learning platform. This update marks a significant step in WFDF’s strategic mission to promote inclusive growth and the “Spirit of the Game” through accessible, high-quality education.

Elevating Rules Knowledge Worldwide

The new accreditation system is designed to verify and strengthen the understanding of Ultimate rules across all levels of play. In a move to increase global accessibility, the accreditation is now available in English, Arabic, and Spanish, thanks to extensive collaboration with the international community.

To enhance the learning experience, the platform now features interactive practice quizzes on hand signals, gamifying the process to ensure players can communicate effectively on the field.

Brian Gisel, Chair of the WFDF Ultimate Committee, emphasized the importance of this transition: “As a self-officiated sport, the foundation of Ultimate is built on every player knowing and understanding the rules. This new platform doesn’t just test knowledge; it serves as a vital learning tool. By making the accreditation more accessible and engaging through the WFDF Academy, we are ensuring that the global community is better equipped to uphold the Spirit of the Game at every level of competition.”

The WFDF Academy offers two distinct levels of accreditation to meet the needs of the community:

• Standard Accreditation: A self-study quiz designed for all players and stakeholders to verify foundational knowledge of the sport’s rules.
• Advanced Accreditation: Targeted toward experienced players, Captains, and Spirit Captains, focusing on complex rule applications and advanced understanding.

WFDF reminds all athletes that proof of completion is required for participation in all WFDF Sanctioned Championships and Events.

National Federations are encouraged to integrate these certifications into their local systems, including player licensing, coaching certifications, and league requirements.

While valid certificates from the legacy rules.wfdf.sport site remain accessible for download and valid, that platform will be phased out as WFDF Academy becomes the exclusive home for accreditation.
