The FPA & WFDF 2026 World Freestyle Flying Disc Championships concluded in Munich, Germany, after four days of spectacular competition, bringing together 110 athletes from 13 countries in a celebration of athleticism, creativity and community.

Hosted at Sportschule Oberhaching as part of the Munich Frisbee Festival, the championship crowned World Champions across four divisions: Open Pairs, Women’s Pairs, Mixed Pairs and Open Coop. The event also continued WFDF’s Summer of Flying Disc, following the successful 2026 World Masters Ultimate Club Championships and 2026 World Junior Ultimate Championships, once again highlighting the diversity and global reach of Flying Disc sports.

Alongside the World Championships, visitors experienced a wide range of Flying Disc activities throughout the weekend, including the Double Disc Court German Championships, Ultimate Bavarian Open, Disc Golf Campustreffen, Wheelchair Ultimate Showmatch, spectator workshops, the Junior Challenge powered by XDISC, live music performances and community jam sessions that brought together elite athletes, newcomers and spectators alike.

“We were excited to collaborate with the Freestyle Players Association in showcasing the best freestylers from across the globe in these World Championships,” stated Robert “Nob” Rauch, WFDF President. “Freestyle is the most iconic of the disc sport disciplines and allows practitioners to demonstrate their skill, control, and artistic choreography.”

“The atmosphere this weekend was pure magic,” shared Tournament Director Daniel Weinbuch. “With Munich’s vibrant and growing frisbee community as our backdrop, this became one of the best-attended freestyle championships in the last two decades, made even better by holding our finals outdoors for the first time in eight years. A huge thank you goes to the extraordinary team of local Munich players who gave everything to make this event possible. I’m truly overwhelmed by the positive energy and community spirit throughout the festival, and I’m so grateful to be a part of it.”

Following preliminary rounds and highly competitive semifinals, the 2026 World Champions were crowned across the four championship divisions.

Open Pairs

Gold: William Ho (USA)  / Fabian Dinklage (GER)
Silver: Marco Prati (ITA) / Fabio Nizzo (ITA)
Bronze: Mehrdad Hosseinain (GER) / Daniel O’Neill (USA)

The Open Pairs title saw a changing of the guard as William Ho (USA) and Fabian Dinklage (Germany) improved on their silver medal from 2025 to capture the 2026 World Championship. Meanwhile, 2025 World Champions Riccardo Montanari and Francesco Santolin did not defend their title as new partnerships reshaped the podium.

Women’s Pairs

Gold: Benedicte Audet (CAN) / Lisa Hunrichs (USA)
Silver: Cindy St. Mary (USA) / Bianca Kostelová (GER/CZE)
Bronze: Gabriela Karolczak (POL) / Asia Szukalska (POL)

Consistency defined the Women’s Pairs division. Benedicte Audet, who claimed gold in 2025 alongside Zofia Wilczek, successfully defended her World Championship title with a new partner, Lisa Hunrichs. Meanwhile, Cindy St. Mary returned to the podium after improving from fifth place in 2025 to claim silver.

Mixed Pairs

Gold: Benedicte Audet (CAN) / Mehrdad Hosseinian (GER)
Silver: Ika Simon (GER) / Marco Prati (ITA)
Bronze: Sarah Zimmermann (SUI) / Reto Zimmermann (SUI)

Another remarkable achievement for Benedicte Audet, who added the Mixed Pairs World Championship to her Women’s Pairs gold. Partnering with Mehrdad Hosseinian, she captured her second gold medal of the weekend. The Zimmermann siblings also returned to the podium, improving from fifth place in 2025 to bronze in 2026.

Open Coop

Silver: Anka Radwanska (POL) / Fabian Dinklage (GER) / Thomas Leitner (ITA)
Bronze: Tymoteusz Wrotek (POL) / Oliver Peters (GER) / Mateusz Gajewski (POL)

The Open Coop division featured a familiar face at the top, with Riccardo Montanari successfully defending his World Championship title while teaming up with Marco Prati and Fabio Nizzo. After winning alongside Francesco Santolin and Tom Leitner in 2025, Montanari once again proved himself one of Freestyle’s most accomplished competitors.

Beyond the competition, the championship provided an opportunity to share the creativity, athleticism and Spirit of the Game that define Freestyle while introducing new audiences to one of Flying Disc sport’s most distinctive disciplines.

The event also marked an important milestone as the first Freestyle World Championship co-hosted by the Freestyle Players Association (FPA) and the World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF), bringing together the international Freestyle community alongside one of Europe’s largest celebrations of Flying Disc sports.

Throughout the weekend, athletes, officials, volunteers and spectators created an atmosphere that reflected the collaborative spirit that has defined Freestyle Flying Disc for decades. The championship concluded with the Awards Ceremony on Sunday evening, celebrating not only the newly crowned World Champions but also the global Freestyle community whose passion and dedication made the event possible.

As WFDF’s Summer of Flying Disc continues, attention now turns to the 2026 World Ultimate Club Championships in Limerick, Ireland, where the world’s best club teams will gather for the federation’s fourth World Championship of the summer.
