The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF), in partnership with the National Federation of New Zealand (New Zealand Ultimate), is excited to announce the launch of UltiM4TES, a program and league format aimed at helping National Federations and local communities worldwide start beginner-friendly Ultimate leagues.

UltiM4TES is created for people new to Ultimate, those who enjoy the sport casually or individuals looking for a fun way to stay active. It uses a 4-a-side mixed-gender format with a strong focus on the social side of the game. Recommended rule variations, like “rolling substitutions” and “dropped pulls,” are included to help new players learn and enjoy the game.

A Handbook was created to outline key steps, from creating a league outline to planning for future activities, and provides guidance on logistics, budgeting, and promoting the Spirit of the Game, as well as accompanying resources and templates to support ongoing organization.

UltiM4TES was created by New Zealand Ultimate in 2019 and has since impacted thousands of new participants in communities across the country.

“UltiM4TES has been an excellent tool in our communities to provide a low-barrier, fun, and social introduction to the sport,” said Iain Stewart, Executive Officer of New Zealand Ultimate. “We are happy to collaborate with WFDF to make the resources associated with our program available to other National Federations to help them grow the sport.”
