Global collaboration brings Flying Disc Sports and powerful messages of unity, inclusion and diversity to youth in Ireland.

On 15 August 2026, the World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF), in collaboration with Limerick Youth Ultimate, held a free Youth Development Clinic on the opening day of the World Ultimate Club Championship (WUCC). Organized as part of WFDF’s support for the Sport for #OneHumanity campaign led by the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), the event used Flying Disc Sports as a platform to promote social inclusion, celebrate cultural diversity, and provide an equitable sporting experience for young people in the region.

“Sport is one of the most powerful forces in society. No matter where we come from, what language we speak, or what background we have, sport creates common ground,” said Dillon Richardson, Director of Membership Services and Sport Development at WFDF. “By embracing the Sport for #OneHumanity initiative, we are showing that our responsibility goes beyond the field of play. We want our sport to be a place where everyone feels welcome, respected, and valued.”

The clinic welcomed young people between the ages of 13 and 20, regardless of their level of experience.  The event was free of charge and the Local Organizing Committee covered transport costs for participants and coaches traveling from different regions, helping to reduce barriers to participation. 

Led by dedicated coaches with Irish national team experience, the morning training session combined athletic skills with values-based learning focused on teamwork, discipline, fair play and non-discrimination.

The UNAOC Sport for #OneHumanity campaign promotes diversity, inclusion, and mutual understanding through partnerships with sports stakeholders and grassroots organizations. The campaign leverages sport as a platform for intercultural dialogue, mutual respect and equal participation.   

Guided by UNAOC’s motto, “Many cultures, one humanity,” the campaign recognizes that, despite differences in culture, language, tradition, and experience, all people share a common humanity. By bringing sports organizations together around this principle, the initiative harnesses the power of sport to foster respect, resilience, friendship and a sense of shared purpose.

At the end of the session, each participant received a special edition WFDF “Sport for #OneHumanity” disc to commemorate their experience and continue their Flying Disc Sports journey. The clinic brought the campaign’s values to life by creating an inclusive space for young people to connect through sport and promoting respect, understanding and a sense of belonging.

Following the morning clinic, participants enjoyed a complimentary lunch and then attended the official WUCC Opening Ceremony and Showcase Game. The day concluded with a fun, spirited mini-tournament.

The clinic gave young people an inclusive opportunity to take part in Flying Disc Sports. It showed that sport can be more than competition: it can help young people connect, learn from one another and feel that they belong. By supporting UNAOC’s Sport for #OneHumanity campaign, WFDF carried that message beyond the field and into the wider community.
