Day 5 of the WFDF 2026 World Ultimate Club Championships WUCC marked a major turning point in Limerick, as elimination play took over and the race for the World Championship titles narrowed across all three divisions.

The Women’s Division moved through the Round of 16. Belgium’s Mooncup continued their impressive championship with a 15–13 victory over Italy’s BFD Shout, booking their place among the final eight after another competitive European matchup. USA’s Brute Squad also advanced with a 15–10 win over Colombia’s Macana, ending the run of the tournament’s original top seed.

Elsewhere, Japan’s TOKYO MAVERICKS defeated fellow Japanese side MUD 14–12, while USA’s Fury produced one of the most convincing results of the round with a 15–4 victory over the French squad, NLSU Yaka. USA’s Scandal overcame Australia’s Ellipsis 15–10, Canada’s Seacows defeated the Italians, Tequila Boom Boom 15–11 and Canada’s 6ixers progressed with a 14–9 win over SWAMPYBARG, Japan, completing a quarterfinal field with plenty of international representation. 

The Mixed Division had one of the most demanding schedules of the championship so far, with teams navigating elimination Ultimate alongside the changeable Limerick conditions. Some of the tournament’s lower-seeded teams had already produced remarkable runs to reach this stage, including Chinese Taipei’s SuperNova and China’s Huwa, who entered WUCC seeded 39th and 35th respectively before making their way deep into the championship bracket.

Their runs ultimately came to an end on Wednesday. USA’s XIST defeated SuperNova 15–11, while Canada’s Odyssée ended Huwa’s campaign with a 15–7 victory. Great Britain’s Deep Space continued their progress with a 15–9 win over France’s 33 Tours, and USA’s Hybrid defeated Canada’s Union 15–10. USA’s Shame. and Austria’s Mosquitos Klosterneuburg also moved forward with matching 15–12 victories over Royals, from Canada and Tartu Turbulence from Estonia. 

The results leave a particularly strong European presence in the remaining Mixed championship field, alongside three clubs from the United States and Canada’s Odyssée, setting up an intriguing final stretch of the tournament.

Some of the biggest drama of Day 5, however, came in the Open Division.

The early Round of 32 largely followed expectations before the later elimination games transformed the atmosphere around the fields. As the closest contests reached their final points, spectators began gathering around the sidelines to watch teams fight to keep their World Championship campaigns alive.

Australia’s Sunder produced one of the results of the round by eliminating Italy’s BFD la Fotta 15–14, with the game going all the way to universe point. The drama continued as Great Britain’s Clapham Ultimate and France’s Tchac also went to universe, with Clapham eventually surviving another 15–14 thriller to move forward.

Elsewhere, USA’s PoNY defeated Canada’s GOAT 15–11, while Belgium’s Mooncatchers continued their run with a 15–11 victory over Italy’s Cotarica Grandes. Chicago Machine advanced past Amsterdam GRUT 15–7 and USA’s Revolver recorded a 15–4 victory over Belgium’s Freezzz Beezzz as the Open field continued to shrink.

Looking Ahead to Day 6

With the championship brackets now firmly underway, every game carries World Championship implications. At this stage, every game is one to watch.
