WFDF launches new official website

The World Flying Disc Federation (“WFDF”) is pleased to announce that it has launched today a new official website and domain name “wfdf.sport.“ The web site revamp was undertaken to upgrade the underlying site architecture, from the last overhaul in late 2011, to current standards, including native mobile accessibility. WFDF signed an agreement in 2018 to use the dot sport internet domain, which is managed by the Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF) for ICANN, as use of the dot sport domain shows we are a recognized member of the international sports community.

The WFDF Women in Sport Commission held its first ever regional workshop at the Asian-Oceanic Ultimate and Guts Championship (AOUGC 2019) in Shanghai on July 25. The event was well attended with 50 attendees from 13 regional countries, with men making up a third of the group. Please read the full Press release here.

The World Flying Disc Federation (“WFDF”) is pleased to announce that its Congress has approved the Flying Disc Federation of Bulgaria (BFDF) as its newest Member association, increasing WFDF’s membership to 85 national member associations. “We are extremely pleased to welcome BFDF to the WFDF Flying Disc family as the national association from Bulgaria,” commented WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch. “Expanding our membership in Eastern Europe demonstrates the growth of Flying Disc sports in that region. The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) is pleased to welcome two new additions to its executive staff in order to expand its ability to support the objectives of the organization. Igor Jankovíc has joined WFDF as Administrative Coordinator, reporting to Executive Director Volker Bernardi. Patrick Fourcampré-Maye now serves as Event Coordinator reporting to Karina Woldt, WFDF’s Managing Director, Events and Operations. WFDF announces Strategic Plan for 2019-2024 The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) is pleased to announce that its Board of Directors have approved of the Strategic Plan for the period 2019-2024, which will provide a roadmap for the International Federation for the next six years. WFDF will present its plan to its member National Federations at the Congress 2019, which will be held in conjunction with the WFDF 2019 World Team Disc Golf Championships (WTDGC) on 25 August in Alutaguse, Ida-Virumaa, Estonia. WFDF approves of additional revisions to Bylaws

The Congress of the World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) has approved of an additional Bylaws revision after concluding the vote by electronic means. The unanimous decision approves two additional modifications of the revised WFDF Bylaws that were approved by Congress during their annual meeting on 13 July 2018. The modifications incorporate the concept of “self-officiation” into the WFDF Bylaws and require Congress approval for any changes of the provision, in order to further clarify and promote Spirit of the Game.The proposals had been submitted jointly by the Swiss and Belgian associations. “The addition to the purpose of WFDF in Article I, section 2 of the Bylaws to include the principle of ‘self-officiation’ in our Bylaws puts an even stronger emphasis on the Spirit of the Game to which WFDF is committed,” explained WFDF President Robert L. “Nob” Rauch. “We have …

New Guts Catch Record at 124 km/h Reported

02 May 2011 A new world guts catch record was reported by Dave (Nez) Nesbitt, current PDGA Board President and former USGPA and WFDF board member, thrown by Garrett “Double G” Gurthie at 124 km/hr (77 mph). The throw and catch were made at approximately 7:15pm on April 30, 2011 at the International Disc Golf Center in Appling Georgia and recorded by a brand new Bushnell radar gun. The catch was witnessed by approximately 75 disc golfers and friends/family, and verified by Brian Graham, PDGA Executive Director and Disc Golf Hall of Famer, (Crazy) John Brooks, at the time of the catch. The setting of a new world record is subject to confirmation by WFDF Archivist and Record Keeper, Dan (Stork) Roddick.
