WFDF Announces 2021 Schedule of World Championships

Planning to resume global Flying Disc events starting in July 2021 Following the March 24 announcement by the World Flying Disc Federation that all Flying Disc championships in 2020 were cancelled or postponed due to the rapid spread COVID-19 virus and effect of the pandemic on international travel, WFDF has been pushing forward with negotiations, plans, and preparations for a full calendar of events for 2021. As of today, WFDF is planning to hold its World Under-24 Ultimate Championships (3-10 July, Limerick, IRL), World Ultimate and Guts Championships (24-31 July, Leeuwarden, NED), World Overall Championships (July, USA), and World Beach Ultimate Championships (November, USA). The award honors an athlete or a team for their outstanding performance in 2019 or for their social commitment or particularly fair behavior. Finland crowned winners at WFDF 2019 World Team Disc Golf Championships

Finland defeated Germany 8-0 to win the 2019 WFDF 2019 World Team Disc Golf Championships (WTDGC), which were held in Alutaguse, Estonia from 21-24 August 2019. Taking the gold medal had been the ambition for the Finnish team from the beginning of the event — they sent their strongest team and did not lose a match throughout the Championships. Though the German team played well and pushed the Finns in the final round of games, they came up short but a silver medal was above their level of expectation coming into the event. Seeded seventh and in their first WTDGC, they outperformed all their opponents until this championship round. WFDF 2019 World Team Disc Golf Championships open in Estonia The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) is pleased to announce that the WFDF 2019 World Team Disc Golf Championships (WTDGC) opened today.  This third edition of the team disc golf championships is being held at Mäetaguse Disc Golf Park in Alutaguse, Estonia, with a participation of 17 countries over four days of competition. The nations represented are Australia, Austria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Latvia, Lithuania, New Zealand, Russia, Slovakia, Spain and the United States. Charlie Mead Appointed as DGC Chair

[lead]WFDF to reorganize its Disc Golf Committee after PDGA terminates its membership[/lead] World Team Disc Golf Championship co-hosted by WFDF and PDGA will still be hosted in August 2016 The World Flying Disc Federation (“WFDF”) announces that it is going to reorganize its Disc Golf Committee after the Professional Disc Golf Association (“PDGA”) gave notice it was officially terminating the Memorandum of Understanding previously signed on 27 January 2014 and not renewing its membership in WFDF, effective 29 January 2016.  WFDF is in the process of reconstituting the WFDF Disc Golf Committee, which had been a joint committee designated by the PDGA, into one comprised of representatives of WFDF country members who oversee a multi-disciplinary association in order to properly manage disc golf activity within the context of WFDF’s Olympic Movement responsibilities.
