Sustainability
The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) is committed to a more sustainable future for Flying Disc Sports. As the international federation for the sport, WFDF recognizes the responsibility to lead by example and to help the sport thrive socially, environmentally and economically for generations to come.
Sustainability shapes how WFDF governs the sport, supports our Member National Federations, runs our events and engages with the wider Flying Disc community.
That work is set out in the Sustainability Strategy and Action Plan, approved by the Board of Directors, led by the Sustainability and Legacy Commission and guided by the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals' three themes: Planet, People, and Prosperity.
Through education, guidance and shared frameworks, WFDF supports Member National Federations in embedding sustainability into their own organizations and events. WFDF's Impact Program extends that reach beyond any single event, putting equipment and resources directly into communities.
Together with Member National Federations, event organizers, athletes, coaches and the wider community, WFDF is working to build a sport that's responsible, sustainable and accessible for the future generations to play and compete!
Our Commitments and Responsibilities
To guide and formalize WFDF's environmental and social responsibility, WFDF has committed to several key global frameworks and affiliations, including:
- United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change's "Sports for Climate Action" Framework
- United Nations Alliance of Civilizations' "Sport for One Humanity" Initiative
- International Working Group on Women and Sport's "Brighton Plus Helsinki Declaration"
- International Union for Conservation of Nature's "Sports for Nature" Framework
- Sport for Refugees Coalition's "Sport for Inclusion and Protection" Pledge
- Sport and Sustainability International

Our Strategy
As part of the international sports movement, WFDF shares responsibility for its impact and for using its reach to help make disc sports a force for positive change.
The Sustainability Strategy and Action Plan defines three spheres it can act through, each with its own degree of control and influence:
- WFDF as an Organization: Leading by example.
- WFDF as an Event Organizer and Equipment/Supplier Accreditor: Supporting and empowering WFDF events, equipment manufacturers, and suppliers.
- WFDF as an International Federation: Together with its Members, as an influencer and global community of Members, players, fans, and coaches.
The Sustainability and Legacy Commission leads this work and reports to Congress each year.
