Becky Boulton (she/her) is a lecturer in Evolutionary Ecology at the University of Stirling. Becky discovered Ultimate in 2011 while studying for a Master’s degree in London, despite having never played a team sport before. What began as moral support for a housemate quickly turned into a long-term passion. Since then, tshe has played across multiple continents and divisions, including representing UK club MCP as Spirit Captain at the 2022 World Masters Ultimate Club Championships (WMUCC, Limerick), and competing with women’s and mixed clubs in the UK (Swift, GUX and more), USA (Snap!, GOSE) and the Netherlands (UFO and Discover).

In the UK, Becky has been involved in the development of university Ultimate, particularly in Cornwall where they helped grow the local scene and coached emerging teams. Her analytical mindset led her to join the UK Ultimate Spirit of the Game (SOTG) Committee, where she developed data-driven approaches to tracking Spirit trends and helped establish the UKU SOTG Club and University of the Year awards. Becky has since taken on international roles as Spirit Director at the 2023 World Under-24 Championships and the 2024 World Junior Championships, and are set to Spirit Direct WMUCC in 2026.

As an academic who has moved between institutions (and countries/continents) throughout her career, Ultimate has been a constant source of community and support. Becky remains passionate about preserving and improving SOTG as a cornerstone of what makes Ultimate unique, welcoming, and sustainable for future generations.
