Grant Boyd (he/him) is a community builder, big-picture thinker, and event organizer. He is the founder and Executive Director of the California Ultimate Association (CUA). Since 2017, Grant has grown the business ten times over and run two USA Ultimate National Championships and two WFDF World Championships. He also has experience in strategy consulting and managing large budgets.

Grant has a long history with the sport of Ultimate having co-founded SCYU to grow youth Ultimate in the greater Los Angeles area, and California Ultimate to grow participation statewide. He has designed and executed youth programs and facilitated youth clinics at over 100 schools and parks. As the Tournament dDrector of LeiOut, he has led the charge to add Guts and Freestyle to the beach event in 2026, and crafted a 4v4 rule set that is not only fun, but moves quickly and is spectator friendly. He believes that a disc in flight inspires physical activity, and the various elements of sports integrity baked into each disc discipline teach valuable life lessons.
He holds an Master of Fine Arts from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Adelphi University. He was recognized as USA Ultimate’s Outreach Coordinator of the Year in 2019, and is a USA Ultimate Certified Tournament Director, Coach, and Coach Facilitator. When he’s not in a meeting about or running an Ultimate program, he can be found on the Disc Golf course with friends and making homemade salsa.
