Martin Schnitzer is a Full Professor of Sport Science (Sport Economics) and Head of the Department of Sport Science at the University of Innsbruck, as well as Co-Founder of w/eo, a University Innsbruck spin-off dedicated to sustainable strategies and management in sport and events. His work bridges sport, tourism, and society with a focus on mega events, sustainability, and applied research.
Over the years, he has contributed to major international events such as the Torino Olympic Games 2006, the Winter Universiade 2005, UEFA EURO 2008™ in Innsbruck-Tirol, and the Cortina 2019 World Ski Championships bid. Alongside these experiences, he advises organizations in the sports, leisure, and tourism industries and serves as Associate Editor, guest editor, and reviewer for leading scientific journals.
