World Juniors goes to Boston

The WFDF Board has approved the New England Ultimate Alliance as the host of the World Junior Ultimate Championships (WJUC) 2006. The tournament is to be held in Devens, just outside Boston, from 13th to 18th of August. The decision is subject to approval by WFDF Congress by July at the latest.

Disc golf committee launched

A new international disc golf committee has met, the product of collaborative efforts by WFDF and the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) to unite disc golf throughout the world and work together toward the development of the game. Draft minutes of the teleconference held on 19th February are now available online.

Panamericans website launched

A website has been established for the inaugural Pan-American Ultimate Club Championships to be held in Sao Paulo in late July this year. It will be the central point for all information regarding the championships.

2004 WFDF election results

A healthy thirteen member organisations in good standing voted in the 2004 WFDF elections. The new Board took office on 1st January. Congratulations to those who were successfully elected and to Korean Ultimate, who were admitted to regular membership of WFDF in a concurrent poll.

History of Ultimate book soon to be released

The first book chronicling the complete history of the sport of Ultimate, from 1968 to the present, will be released in March 2005. The book includes 160 pages, tons of photos, lists of national and world champions, national champion team rosters and a DVD with never before seen Ultimate footage. Pre-orders are now being taken.

WFDF elections open

The 2004 WFDF Board elections are now open. There have been some delays in commencing the election due to the need to include some approvals for action of the Board in the past year, which the Board hopes will meet the scrutiny of the members. WFDF encourages all members to participate in this election – voting will close on Wednesday 23rd December 2004.

Should the observer rule go?

At the recent Congress meeting in Turku, Finland, the Swedish Frisbeesport Federation put forward a proposal to eliminate the observer rule from the rules of ultimate, citing it was contradictory to the central spirit statement of personal responsibility. The submisison was backed by experiences in Sweden, including a letter of support from a FIFA referee who agrees that the presence of on-field officials is detrimental to player behaviour. EUCC2005 will be in Rostock

The European Flying Disc Federation (EFDF) today announced that the European Ultimate Club Championships 2005 (EUCC2005) will be held in Rostock, Germany from 3rd to 9th July, 2005. An excellent bid was also submitted from Colchester, England. It is planned to have the following divisons at EUCC2005: Open, Women, Mixed, Masters.
