The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) has published the eBook “Flying Disc Parasport Wheelchair Ultimate – BOOK 1” written by José Amoroso, which is being introduced as an important resource to promote the adaptive disciplines in our sport to our global audience of more than 100 National Federations.
“On the occasion of the IPC General Assembly, which WFDF attends as an Observer as an IPC-recognized International Federation, we celebrate the IPC motto – Spirit in Motion – a theme which fits so perfectly with our core principle of Spirit of the Game,” stated WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch. “Our new ebook is an important milestone for us as it establishes the first complete set of competition rules including the guidelines on venue layouts for Wheelchair Ultimate. We now plan to begin staging continental competitions in Wheelchair Ultimate in Europe, America, Asia/Oceania by 2023, and subsequently plan for World Championships within a year or two thereafter.”
“We thank our partners at the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Federation (IWAS), and our scientific partners for their contributions,” added WFDF Secretary General and Parasports Commission chair Volker Bernardi. “Our utmost appreciation goes out to the editor of the “Flying Disc Parasport Wheelchair Ultimate,” José Amoroso from Portugal, who worked tirelessly on the project His passion and enthusiasm for Ultimate and Flying Disc Parasports has been essential to this important project for us.”
Author José Amoroso commented that “This represents an incredible step for Flying disc in formalizing our adaptive sports program. It is challenging to get this established correctly and we still have a lot of work to be done. As a Physical Education professional, I feel honored by being a part of this process and for having the trust of the WFDF in its elaboration. The world of adapted sports deserves more engagement from all of us.”
