WFDF 2022 World Masters Ultimate Club Championships Commences

The WFDF 2022 World Masters Ultimate Club Championships commenced Saturday 25th June and is running through Saturday 2nd July at the University of Limerick in Ireland. The event has attracted 115 club teams from 23 countries, with over 3,000 participants. Athletes are competing in six divisions: Master Open, Master Women’s, Master Mixed, Grand Master Open, Grand Master Mixed and Great Grand Master Open.

“It’s exciting to finally resume international competition after the shut-downs over the last two years due to the pandemic,” stated WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch. “This is the largest World Masters Championship ever and our more mature athletes have come out in force in embracing the return to competition. We want to thank our Local Organizing Committee (LOC) – Siege Events Limited, headed up by Barry Walsh and Liam Grant – for all their efforts and patience, and for their famous Irish welcome.”

The minimum age limit for athletes playing in the masters’ divisions of WFDF championships is 30 for the women’s division and 33 for the open division, with the minimum age for grandmasters at 37 for women’s and 40 for open division athletes. Great Grand Master divisions’ ages start at 45 and 48 respectively.
