More than 700 players from 50 teams and 15 countries will descend on Huntington Beach, California, USA next month for the chance to be crowned the best beach Ultimate teams in the world. The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF), in partnership with Ultiworld, will stream up to 12 contests per day from the WFDF 2023 World Beach Ultimate Championships.

Beach Worlds takes place 1 to 5 November and will be streamed exclusively via WFDF’s subscription partnership with Ultiworld. The hour-long matches will be broadcast, including Finals in all six divisions, from two of the competition pitches adjacent to the famous Huntington Beach Pier.

“Following the COVID break, WFDF is happy to be hosting our World Beach Championships for the first time in 6 years. In particular WFDF is excited to have a team from Ukraine attending the event, truly an amazing accomplishment,” commented WFDF Vice President Brian Gisel.

The showcase pitch will feature four cameras, a drone and live commentary, while the secondary field will have single-camera coverage with replays and graphics. Lead Commentator Katie Killebrew will be joined in the booth by Evan Lepler, Christopher Mazur, Darryl Stanley, Robyn Fennig, Troë Weston, Danie Proby, and surprise guests to guarantee expert play-by-play and analysis.

“As WFDF and our production partner Ultiworld continue with our ‘players play and viewers pay’ model, in order to help lower athletes’ costs, we’re proud to present extensive coverage of Beach Worlds,” said Tim Rockwood, WFDF Managing Director of Broadcasting and Marketing and Executive Producer.

“For possibly the first time in Ultimate history, no players’ fees are allocated to the broadcast budget at a WFDF World Championships. We are relying on our community to support the costs of highest-quality coverage by purchasing event packages or subscriptions exclusively through Ultiworld.com.”

This will be the first Beach Worlds since 2017, when the event was contested in Royan, France. Players will compete in the Women’s, Open, Mixed, Master Mixed, and Grand Master Open divisions. Huntington Beach will also host the inaugural WFDF 2023 International Beach Ultimate Mixed Club Challenge (IBUXCC).

Games will be available for UltiWorld subscribers and with purchase of an event subscription. Leading up to Finals, one game will be streamed for free each day. Check out Ultiworld.com for more information.
