WFDF Announces 2021 Schedule of World Championships

Planning to resume global Flying Disc events starting in July 2021 Following the March 24 announcement by the World Flying Disc Federation that all Flying Disc championships in 2020 were cancelled or postponed due to the rapid spread COVID-19 virus and effect of the pandemic on international travel, WFDF has been pushing forward with negotiations, plans, and preparations for a full calendar of events for 2021. As of today, WFDF is planning to hold its World Under-24 Ultimate Championships (3-10 July, Limerick, IRL), World Ultimate and Guts Championships (24-31 July, Leeuwarden, NED), World Overall Championships (July, USA), and World Beach Ultimate Championships (November, USA). The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) is proud to present the newly published e-book “Ultimate at Schools Programme Teacher’s File” by author José Amoroso. This e-book provides 139 pages of teaching materials in the Flying Disc sport of Ultimate, on the rules of the game, specific aspects of the sport like throwing and catching, and teaching methods and learning assessment, along with a brief overview of other Flying Disc disciplines. Impact of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) on WFDF 2020 World Ultimate events

Following the outbreak of COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) in China and the high number of cases across Asia and its spreading to other parts of the world, the Executive Committee of the WFDF Board of Directors and WFDF staff members held a meeting this last weekend with WFDF Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jamie M. Nuwer to evaluate the impact of this situation on the upcoming WFDF World Ultimate 2020 events (WUGC, WJUC and WMUC). There are two major events scheduled to take place in Europe in July: the WFDF 2020 World Ultimate & Guts Championships (11-18 July in Netherlands) and the WFDF 2020 World Junior Ultimate Championships (18-25 July in Sweden). New WFDF Rules Appendix released and in effect from January 1, 2020

The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) has released a new version of the Appendix to the Rules of Ultimate 2017. The new version came into effect as of 1 January 2020. These rules will be used for all WFDF Ultimate Events in 2020, including the upcoming World Ultimate and Guts Championships, World Junior Ultimate Championships, and World Masters Ultimate Championships. Non-WFDF event organizers may also choose to use these rules for their events. These are the main changes for version 4.0: ● Change the name of the “Men’s” Division to the “Open” Division ● Adjustments to the seeding and bids process ● Changes to offside penalties ● New hand signals for “4 Men” and “4 Women” (Updated hand signals will be released later in 2020) ● Direction on how photographic or video footage should be used ● Guidance on how …

Strong showing from Colombia at WFDF 2019 Pan American Ultimate Championships

Colombia further proved it’s a force to be reckoned with at last month’s WFDF 2019 Pan American Ultimate Championships (PAUC), earning gold in both the Women’s and Men’s divisions. The USA won the Mixed Division championship. The event was hosted at the Sarasota Polo Club in Florida, USA from Sunday 3rd November to Friday 8th November 2019. PAUC featured national and club Ultimate teams in the Men’s, Women’s and Mixed divisions, along with Mixed Masters, Men’s Masters and Men’s Grandmasters divisions. Team USA sweeps WFDF 2019 World Under-24 Ultimate Championships, taking home three gold medals in Heidelberg, Germany   Team USA went undefeated during eight days of competition, with a combined 31-0 record across three divisions, on their way to winning three gold medals at the WFDF 2019 World Under-24 Ultimate Championships, which concluded on Saturday, July 20 in Heidelberg, Germany.
