A Delegation of Hangzhou Municipal People’s Congress (HMPC), led by the Standing Committee of HMPC’s Deputy Director Lu Chunqiang, visited with WFDF Representatives in Frankfurt at the German Olympic Sports Confederation headquarters on the 23rd of April. The meeting, chaired by WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch, was held to discuss follow-up details for the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Hangzhou Municipal People’s Government and WFDF during the Hangzhou Asian Games in 2023. This agreement represents the first MoU signed between WFDF and a city.

Members of the Delegation and WFDF Representatives enjoyed an exchange of ideas on potential events and opportunities for collaboration, an assessment of current Flying Disc activities in Hangzhou, strategies for continuous promotion of Flying Disc across China and beyond, and the exploration of innovative marketing and outreach approaches to increase public engagement and awareness about the sport. The provision of an office space and funding of administrative expenses for the Asian-Oceanic Flying Disc Federation (AOFDF) to assist in furthering these goals was also discussed.

“We appreciate that the delegation from Hangzhou, led by Mr. Lu, visited us in Frankfurt to discuss ways we could put our MoU into action,” stated WFDF President Robert “Nob” Rauch. “We discussed many tangible actions on both the event and administrative sides that will be of mutual benefit.”

Following this meeting, the Hangzhou Municipal People’s Congress and WFDF will continue to outline next steps and timelines for implementing agreed upon initiatives, as well as determining the assignment of responsibilities and establishing follow-up mechanisms. WFDF looks forward to this partnership continuing to flourish, and the contributions it will make toward the continued growth of Flying Disc in China.
